I did a double take when I saw this Ministry of Health bus stop advertisement promoting breastfeeding. I thought that I was looking thorough the glass at an actual person sitting in the bus stop, but upon closer scrutiny realised that this was the intended illusion. The ad uses rugby as the clinch to taking breastfeeding seriously – it reads: “Future rugby legend in the making”. The game of rugby has traditionally been considered a central part of New Zealand culture, with The All Blacks regarded as national heroes. These days I don’t think that the game is as popular as it once was.

Neither is breast feeding, unfortunately.

I really like clever and well thought out adverts and this is one of those. I think too many people object or do not see breast as best.
